GBBD June 2010

For this month's Bloom Day, hosted by May Dreams Garden, I'll be showing off my father's water lilies. I have shown a few of these photos in a previous post. I was thinking about printing and framing some of these photos to give as a Father's Day gift. I can't decide whether I'd like to print a series of photos, or a single photo. Can you help me figure this out?

  1. Wendy: How lucky you are to have your farther's garden growing water lilies! I love them, and they are just essential flowers in Chinese water garden! Love, Love that picture with white goose drinking along the lake. What are those water side yellow flowers? Daylilies??

BTW, I saw your comment you left at my post. Thanks for dropping by! Yes, that bamboo pen cup my dad made for me is one of the things that I will treasure forever.

  2. These water lilies are so pretty Wendy! I love the view of overall pond (the big picture) with so many lilies on the water. It's a rare opportunity for me to see such a beautiful place. Thanks for posting! I enjoyed looking at the photos very much.

I think your dad sees this place all the time and enjoying his garden like normal. Perhaps, for him, a close up of the flower with all the details shown in clear and big way will be quite unusual. As it is now, I probably would fall into the pond for wanting to see those small details of the flower :-D

  3. A series of three would be great. But then I have a thing for series photos.

  4. I have a Dad who is talented at Dahlias. I wish I would have inherited that thumb.

Your Dads lilies are spectacular! I bet that would look stunning in any room of your house, framed up and all. Good job!

  6. Beautiful photos! I vote for a series, since it would be hard to choose and they go so well together.

  9. That's not a pond: that's a lake!
How about making a calendar for him?

  10. The first two pictures look like paintings. Very beautiful.

I think giving the pictures to your dad as presents sounds like a great idea. I gave my parents framed pictures I took of castle gardens on my trip overseas and they really liked them.

  11. Thanks for your ideas. I did end up doing a series. Found a great frame at target with 2 panes of glass so I could do a sort of collage. I think it will look great!

Joco - what an excellent idea to make a calendar. That will definitely be a holiday present this year. This is the man who has everything and the calendar is just a perfect idea. Duh, I can't believe that had never occurred to me! Thanks!

  12. Wendy, your father's garden blows me away. I love the shot of the geese, but a couple of those close-ups of the water lily flowers looked so much like Georgia O'Keefe paintings to me. Just gorgeous!

My awesome gardening friends...thanks for leaving a comment! I don't typically repond here, but I love knowing who you are so I can visit your blog as well.

btw - if you're trying to show me nude Miley Cyrus photos, sell me nikes or viagra or antibiotics, or encourage my lovely garden readers to visit your site on solar panel construction, or seo-whatevers, sorry, but I'm not publishing your comment. If you want to moderate my blog - well, I can't keep you too busy, and the pay would be horrible. And lastly, no. I'm not interested in Club Penguin cheat codes. Thanks anyway.
