GTTC: French toast with berries

Tired of my strawberry posts?  As you can see from our breakfast, the strawberries are getting fewer and the blueberries are ripening.  This French toast was particularly delicious made with a Challah-like raisin walnut bread.

A less lovely vision - this cauliflower...ugh.

And this week, my daughter turned 14 years old.  How did I ever get old enough to have a 14 year old?  Below, my little one had cleared the table of its usual crap, set up the "centerpiece" and got the apples ready to make her sister's apple-mulberry birthday pie.  Seems like just yesterday, this blog was fledgling and the pie said, "11"...

So I'm a little nosy, what's in your garden hod this week and what are you doing with it?  Post about it with a link to Greenish Thumb and add your post below - looking forward to reading about it!

  1. I find that those caulis with the seperated florets make quite good pakoras - more places for the batter to go. That toast looks divine. Happy birthday to your daughter (and your blog).

  2. We are all over blueberries and black raspberries right now (and a few Alpine strawberries); alas, the blueberry risotto was not delicious enough to post about.

The years go fast after 14, so brace yourself. :)

    1. blueberry risotto - sounds yummy - like a fruity rice pudding? maybe some white chocolate?

  3. Happy 14th Birthday to your daughter! Soon she'll be sweet 16th. Also Happy Blog Anniversary!

  4. Oh that breakfast looks delicious! Your poor old cauliflower! I'm having cauli problems too at the moment with a bad case of whip tail. At least you have a curd!

  5. The breakfast looks so yummy! Very nutritional too!
    Happy Birthday to your daughter!

  6. They do grow up fast. I'm watching my grandchildren do it now. How am I old enough to have 5 grandchildren. Seems impossible, but wonderful all at the same time.

Your french toast looks so yummy. I'm growing a couple strawberries plants in my pots. I hope I get a few before the dog does. My one grandson (Austin) keeps asking "where are the strawberries/"

  7. Is that a piece of butter on top of the french toast... YUM! Love the mix. Wish I could have a bite ;-) Wendy, I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger award. Check out my latest post when you have the time. Happy birthday to your lovely daughter!

  8. I always take on the positive side when I see vegetables sold on the market stand with insect bitten marks on them that they are clean from pesticide.
Your picture reminded me very much about that.

  9. Yummy french toast! Happy belated birthday to your daughter!!!

My awesome gardening friends...thanks for leaving a comment! I don't typically repond here, but I love knowing who you are so I can visit your blog as well.

btw - if you're trying to show me nude Miley Cyrus photos, sell me nikes or viagra or antibiotics, or encourage my lovely garden readers to visit your site on solar panel construction, or seo-whatevers, sorry, but I'm not publishing your comment. If you want to moderate my blog - well, I can't keep you too busy, and the pay would be horrible. And lastly, no. I'm not interested in Club Penguin cheat codes. Thanks anyway.
