GTTC: lemony spiced spinach and chick peas

Above: the first strawberries of the season, along with rhubarb and raspberries growing slowly but surely- yes, there will be pie!

But as for now, I will boast about this quite delicious lunch I made this week - onions, garlic, chick peas, spinach, cumin, cayenne pepper, paprika - served with pita and plain Greek yogurt.  Hearty and healthy, and made great use of the spinach that's so prolific in the garden right now.

What are you harvesting and using in your kitchen this week?  Join the weekly Garden to Table Challenge.  See details here...  This week, my neighbor blogger of Charm City Balcony Garden has won a starter pack of Asian vegetable seeds.  Send me an e-mail with your address and I'll send your seeds out!  Hope all you gardeners are having a fantastic spring so far!

On a different note, the spring pinks in my perennial garden are so darn pretty I could just die.  I'm doing my annual persistent "look at that flower - just look at it - isn't it gorgeous".  My family is quickly getting sick of it I'm sure, but so far, they're humoring me.  Anyway, check 'em out on Garden Blogger's Bloom Day on the 15th...

  1. Wow, i love spinach but i can't grow them in the hot lowlands. I always buy from the supermarket which is so expensive just like asparagus and mushrooms. We have the cheaper indigenous vegies but i really love those from the highlands; spinach, broccoli, asparagus, sweet peas, but not much of strawberries. I only love that in photos.

  3. I keep thinking about strawberry rhubarb pie. The combination of flavors is absolutely perfect. I think I will have to indulge very soon.

  7. you are entitled to boast about that lunch Wendy. That is the kind of thing I eat about 20 days out of 21, trying to be vegetarian. On the 14th day I often find myself craving meat, and generally buy and eat a fillet steak, which does me until the next craving fit.

  8. I was never a fan of chickpeas. But last month we had a late lunch near the beach and for the first time I really like chickpeas. I think it must have been local grown. Your chickpeas look delicious. I would like to try.

My awesome gardening friends...thanks for leaving a comment! I don't typically repond here, but I love knowing who you are so I can visit your blog as well.

btw - if you're trying to show me nude Miley Cyrus photos, sell me nikes or viagra or antibiotics, or encourage my lovely garden readers to visit your site on solar panel construction, or seo-whatevers, sorry, but I'm not publishing your comment. If you want to moderate my blog - well, I can't keep you too busy, and the pay would be horrible. And lastly, no. I'm not interested in Club Penguin cheat codes. Thanks anyway.
