GBBD - April 2012

Everything has burst into bloom in the past couple of weeks. It's a blissful spring - today I decided to forgo any garden chores for a nap in the backyard instead (knowing it will not be mosquito-free out there for long). As I drifted off to sleep, I heard my 7 year old take her dad to see the strawberry plants in bloom. Here are other blooming in my garden. Take a look at all the GBBD posts at May Dreams Gardens when you're done. What's blooming in your part of the world?

Fothergilla beaver creek - a perfect little shrub. Fragrant bottlebrush blooms in spring, green all summer, all sorts of fiery autumn color in the fall.

Above - my favorite tall flowering shrub Sinycalycalycanthus. Gorgeous dark blooms, billowy leaves that turn yellow and orange in the fall. Below - Euphorbia Rudolph

  1. Hi Wende, we had the same title so i added something to mine, LOL. I can see your garden is fully alive again, beautiful colors. I love most that checkered lily. The first time i saw it in blogs i was so amazed that a flower can be made to look like that! Amazing.

  12. Lovely spring flowers! And Sinocalycalycanthus...what a name, and such a gorgeous colour. I had never heard about it before so I had to look it up, not something for my postage stamp size garden unfortunately, my garden is full already!

  14. Hi Wendy, Your garden is so far ahead of mine. Lavender blossoms already? Wow. I'm nowhere close to seeing them yet. Ditto on the Allium. Your 'Rudolph' Euphorbia is outstanding. One can easily understand why it was named that, can't they? The weather wouldn't allow for taking a nap in the garden either but that will happen soon enough. I'm glad you had a mosquito-free snooze.

  15. Your flowers are beautiful. I like the closeups of the lavender...and several plants I don't recognize! I also like the dark red leaves....really nice contrast with just a bit of color greens.

  17. Spring is a great rejuvenator and it has been particularly hard at work in your garden. All your spring plants are lovely. Its a pity we don't have any of them here in the Tropics.

My awesome gardening friends...thanks for leaving a comment! I don't typically repond here, but I love knowing who you are so I can visit your blog as well.

btw - if you're trying to show me nude Miley Cyrus photos, sell me nikes or viagra or antibiotics, or encourage my lovely garden readers to visit your site on solar panel construction, or seo-whatevers, sorry, but I'm not publishing your comment. If you want to moderate my blog - well, I can't keep you too busy, and the pay would be horrible. And lastly, no. I'm not interested in Club Penguin cheat codes. Thanks anyway.
