GBBD - August 2011
So with the heat index, we had several days that hit 125 degrees this month! Not much is looking fresh and lively in my garden, especially when paired with a season's full of neglect. Here are some old reliables that manage to catch my attention and affection during these dog days of summer... To see a lot more, visit May Dreams Gardens!
This is a hosta with particularly large, gorgeous, and fragrant blooms lighting up the shady side of the garden.
Just some liriope and moonbean coreopsis - like I said, old reliables.
Echinacea looking really ratty, but the goldfinches don't mind.
One sole re-bloom from the clematis decorating the fescue below...

My awesome gardening friends...thanks for leaving a comment! I don't typically repond here, but I love knowing who you are so I can visit your blog as well.
btw - if you're trying to show me nude Miley Cyrus photos, sell me nikes or viagra or antibiotics, or encourage my lovely garden readers to visit your site on solar panel construction, or seo-whatevers, sorry, but I'm not publishing your comment. If you want to moderate my blog - well, I can't keep you too busy, and the pay would be horrible. And lastly, no. I'm not interested in Club Penguin cheat codes. Thanks anyway.

Pretty blooms!!
ReplyDeleteWe never have that much flower blooming in our summer. Your beautiful garden has so many lovely bloom!
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy, at least even with your heat you can still see flowers. In our case during our dry seasons, even the weeds dry up and evaporate. By the way that hosta looks like my mystery plant, and for a long time i thought is a hosta, till recently when blogger friends helped me identify it as Proiphys amboinensis.
ReplyDeleteLovely blooms! I love the shot of the Gaura and the flame lily! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteHappy GBBD :)
You don't have only a few blooms. You have many!
ReplyDeleteI really like your "old reliables" especially your lily and phlox and I don't have any naked pictures of Miley Cyrus or Miley anybody else.......:-)
ReplyDeleteDespite your hot temps, your garden looks lovely...such beautiful blooms. happy gbbd!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of bloom in heat wave! Beautiful!
ReplyDelete125 degrees? OMG! I hope you got a little bit of a reprieve from the heat today for your GBBD inventory. You've got some deceptively delicate looking flowers powering through for you.
ReplyDeletethey are nice and sweet to see....
ReplyDelete125? Even with it being a heat index number it's astonishing what you have still blooming (and living)! Nice to be able to depend on plants like the Moonbeam coreopsis at a time like this. Your post is a nice compilation of some plants that might actually look okay at a tough time like this.
ReplyDeleteYikes! 125? Really? Things are looking remarkably good...at any temp
ReplyDeleteThanks for looking everyone!!
ReplyDeleteAndrea, you may have just rocked my world with the Proiphys amboinensis idea. The foliage is definitely the same, but the flower looks a little different to me (at least from what's posted on the net). Looks like the Proiphys amboinensis leaves a large seedpod - I'll have to watch the "hosta" and see what happens...
I heart your morning glories. I'm a sucker for wild and crazy twining plants, though.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos for GBBD!
Your garden still loooks ok in spite of the heat Wendy. I like the clematis sitting on that plant - like a brooch ;-) Btw, that white gaura is pretty. My garden is used to the heat fortunately. And recently, I am enjoying the scented flowers that have blossomed. Have a great weekend!
