My awesome gardening friends...thanks for leaving a comment! I don't typically repond here, but I love knowing who you are so I can visit your blog as well.
btw - if you're trying to show me nude Miley Cyrus photos, sell me nikes or viagra or antibiotics, or encourage my lovely garden readers to visit your site on solar panel construction, or seo-whatevers, sorry, but I'm not publishing your comment. If you want to moderate my blog - well, I can't keep you too busy, and the pay would be horrible. And lastly, no. I'm not interested in Club Penguin cheat codes. Thanks anyway.

Cochineal! Have you read the awesome book about it by Amy Butler Greenfield?
ReplyDeleteUh... no idea. I know some patriots viewed the redcoats as below the level of worms, of course. But I don't think that's what you're looking for. ;)
ReplyDeleteCochineal - red dye. :-) I've used it to make reddish-colored yarn before.
ReplyDeleteKinda cool... but kinda creepy, too. LOL
Love your trivia posts!
The both have white patches?
ReplyDeleteBlood? Well, I can't figure this out. I'll wait for your answer he he...
ReplyDeleteI think they're a red food color... but now you're creeping me out! Are they used to color human foods?? :))
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing "what the European settlers brought over to America when they came over here?"
ReplyDeleteWendy~~ I'm ditto-ing Kate. Red foods: licorice...
ReplyDeletegood guesses!!
ReplyDeleteA lost platoon of Red Coats on their way to Valley Forge ate bugs and cactus to survive.
ReplyDeleteWe've all eaten bugs, and some bugs are considered a delicacy. By that I mean lobsters, crabs, shrimp, and crayfish. Some think that they are fish, but they are not. Fish are boat-shaped, have a backbone, scales, and fins. I've either made you more accepting of the consumption of insects or I've ruined "shellfish" for you. I hope it's the former, not the latter.
