Sue - the kitchen is interesting. My parents have a large open complete kitchen, plus a smaller kitche (with all the necessities as well) that is enclosed in an adjoining room. Some Asian people like to do this to keep the mess, odors, oil resideu from stir fries, etc. enclosed, and away from the "entertaining" kitchen.

yes, my father sure enjoys it. He made hundreds that day (and like any typical dumpling making day) despite the fact that he was really sore from shoveling snow for several days straight!!

Stephanie, the idea of a dumpling making party sounds fun! My kids usually try to attempt some sort of dumpling.

When I was little and didn't like some of the fillings, he would often take 2 wrappers, add just a little filling, and seal together in a little round pancake. Those were usually fun.

My sister, being a vegetarian, often gets her own special dumplings as well!

You are certainly a good cook. I like to see scene...

Thanks for the explanation of Napa cabbage. My local market has a very large section of Asian veggies. It's always filled with lots of people. I like learning about them and how they are used.

Making dumplings is fun especially with many friends or family members around. We use to have dumpling party or even sushi party. Everyone is involve in cooking process and then enjoy the food later together :-D Nice way to encourage interaction and bonding. Great job Wendy! Btw, the recipe is a good one.
